Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) is a group technique used to identify hazards and operability problems. This technique can be applied to operating process plants as well as plants in various stages of design.

A well-known PHA technique for risk assessment and mitigation is the Hazard and Operability Study. It plays a crucial role in process safety management and plant and facility HSE risk assessments. This highly structured and systematic strategy identifies all hazards in a process, evaluates the design intent, determines deviations, and considers mitigation options for those that could lead to negative outcomes, such as safety incidents.

Upon passing the exam at the end of this course, participants will be qualified to serve as PHA HAZOP leaders. They will be equipped to conduct HAZOP studies and provide effective support during the PHA phase.
